IURII DOMBROVSKII, BORIS SVESHNIKOV
Moscow, Sam&Sam, 2017, 228 pp.

Dombrovskii (1909-78) was first arrested at the age of twenty-three and spent 18 years in exile and camps. He continued writing there. His prose (including The Faculty of Useless Knowledge) was translated in the West and led to him being murdered by the KGB. His visceral poetry is reprinted here with powerful drawings made by Boris Sveshnikov in the GULAG.
